The national British
newspaper The Daily Mail was duped by an impostor claiming
to be the singer/guitarist for Pilot. Today, a 2-page spread
in the paper chronicles how Pilot's "singer/ guitarist"
has struggled over the years with psoriasis that allegedly
resulted from a electrocution accident on stage in the late
70s. He claims he quit Pilot because he didn't want to go
outside and be seen in his condition and claims to have spent
nearly a million dollars from his Pilot earnings to find a
cure for psoriasis. Only problem with the story is that it
isn't about singer/bassist David Paton or guitarist Ian Bairnson.
This appears to be a new twist on identity theft where a deluded
person creates a fictitious story to gain publicity and financial
gain. We will keep you posted on any new developments. In
the meantime, feel free to contact the Daily Mail.
