David grew up
in a very close knit family. His
father Jack was a singer
and traveled throughout Scotland singing the songs
of Robert Burns and many
popular Scottish songs. He was also involved with
a few Scottish theater productions. David was fascinated
by the theater and loved to watch his father perform
never knowing that one day he would do the same.
Quite appropriate that David's
mother Matty met his
father in a dance hall during the war. She loved and
still loves dancing today. She was a ballroom dancer
and won many competitions in and around Edinburgh.
She sent David to Scottish country dance lessons when
he was about 5 or 6 years old. She also taught ballroom
dancing for many years. David's father passed away
in the mid-1980s and his mother has since remarried.
